I had the pleasure of listening to passionate and somewhat kooky author and environmental activist James Howard Kunstler who’s talk suggested we are doomed to be without oil in the next few years. His book “The Long Emergency: Surviving the End of Oil, Climate Change, and Other Converging Catastrophes of the Twenty-First Century” sounds interesting and one of his solutions suggests that restoring America’s railroads will answer some of our energy issues.
